Goal? I Think Not!

This year Jessica played goalie for her hockey team which initially annoyed me because I didn't want to have to spend every game watching all her teammates running around. 'Cos you know, it's all about me, you guys. Anyway, Jess took me aside and very calmly and maturely explained to me that she really wanted to be the goalie, that it was fun and please could I just get over myself and support her? Well, what a right idiot I felt. She blows me away sometimes, that kid.

As it turns out, I needn't have worried because she saw lots of action this season. And what a star goalie she turned out to be! She trained with her team once a week and had specialist goalie practice with all the other goalies on another day which was really beneficial and she learnt so much. I was well impressed with her blocking techniques on the field and was in awe of how she threw herself around to save so many goals. Geez, that girl put her body on the line for her team. Literally.

Anyway, why I'm telling you all this, is because we went to the hockey prize giving two nights ago and my star child won the Most Improved Player award for her team. The head of hockey called her "a promising player"; and my heart overflowed with happiness for my goalie girl.

  1. WOW!!! WELL DONE J! U R A STAR GIRL - but then we always knew that...x
