Our Island Hopper

Well, she got off one ferry (from Kawau island) and got onto another one (to Waiheke island) on Friday. Our little island hopper.

The school camp at Camp Bentzon on Kawau Island was a huge success and it turns out that I missed her more than she missed me. Who would have thought? Okay, don't answer that.

Anyway, she had a wonderful time away and came back thoroughly exhausted. But smiling. All good. Isn't it amazing how you can see that growth and gained experience in their eyes when they get off that bus? A few days earlier, she'd climbed onto the bus unsure, anxious;  and when she climbed off, there was a definite look of 'been to camp and actually, it was great, and you know what? I did it!'.

And then that little trouper held it together as we set off to Waiheke island for a family weekend away.

Go, go, go.

  1. she faced her fear and beat it! Well done darling Sarah! Where is the next trip to?
